Red Figure Painting

Acrylic painting on paper, 18” by 24”. Summer 2024

What started as just a large sketch of the figure developed into this painting over a couple weeks. After the graphite layer was completed I used a palette knife to scrape the blue and red on top. Using different washes I helped bring out the shadows and highlights from the sketch. I really enjoyed the process of making this work and how the history on the paper creates beautiful rich textures.
