Each color was created on a separate layer, starting with orange, then indigo, and finally green. The imagery changes for each stage:

Orange is focused on feminine energy, the sun and the stars

Indigo is reflecting the moon and more masculine energy

Green is for nature and plants

There was no sketched out plan for each stage. The images were carved out of the ink for the first two layers and for the leaves and foliage the ink was painted onto the plate.
