Reduction Linocut Print
This piece focuses on girlhood. The platonic and familial relationships between girls and how those friendships help us flourish. The mix of harsh jagged lines and defined muscles with the lightness of their pose and the softness of their dresses help convey that. The Symbols of the dragonfly and sun are personal to me while also connecting with the collective nostalgia of the early 2000s. Heavily inspired by the iconography of Art Nouveau.
Intaglio & Aquatint
I wanted to challenge myself to make a composition that can be turned on any side. The iconography is reminiscent of tarot cards with the bird, flower, knife, and face sitting in quiet harmony. I used corrosive salts to bite into the copper plate. To create value I used spray paint to create dots and covered the areas I wanted to remain light.
